Pre-winter weather vehicle maintenance and inspection checks are a top priority for Danny Lammlein of Springboro.

“If you don’t, you’ll be driving down the highway and your car will break down and you know that’s not good. I like to have a good reliable vehicle,” said Lammlein.

Now is the time to do it — many service departments have specials this time of year to get your car in tip-top shape for snowy driving.

Grismer store manager Andrew Stewart said you should make sure a mechanic changes your oil, checks your tires, belts, hoses and brakes for wear, and tests the battery and antifreeze.

Other vehicle preparation recommendations:

  • Wash and wax your vehicle to protect it against road salt and sand.
  • -make sure your heater and defrost system is working properly.
  • -replace wiper blades if they aren’t performing well or appear cracked and dry.
